Your Rights
- You have the right to remain silent.
- You do not have to give consent towards a search of you or your belongings.
Note: If police suspect a weapon they may pat down your clothing.
- You do not have to answer questions about birth location, citizenship, or arrival in the country.
- If arrested, you have the right to a lawyer.
- If an immigration agent requests your immigration papers and you are not a U.S. citizen you must
show them.
- If you are 18 years or older you must carry your papers at all times. If you don't have them
tell the officer you want to remain silent and want a lawyer.
Who is at risk of being arrested by ICE?
You can be deported if:
- You are not a lawful citizen
- You have been convicted of a crime or crimes
Under the Trump Administration ICE's primary focuses are:
- Pending crimminal cases or previous convictions
- Finalized orders of removal
- Fraud or misrepresentation towards the government
- Individuals believed to be threats to the public or national secuirty
You can still be arrested if:
- You conviction was years ago
- You have never served time in jail
- You were convicted of a minor crime
- You have medical issues
- You are on LPR
- Members of your family are US citizens

I've Been Stopped by the Police or ICE
Stay calm and:
- Do NOT resist or block ICE agents or officers
- Do NOT lie or provide false documentation
